Description
This 4-way control plate from Tribute Guitarworks puts one extra very cool option at your fingertips. All standard Tele's run your neck and bridge pickups in
parallel
in the middle position. The extra option this harness gives you is to run your pickups in
series,
effectively turning the two pickups into a humbucker with a higher output and a beefier tone!
The order of options with this harness are:
1. Neck
2. Series
3. Parallel
4. Bridge
You'll notice that unlike most 4-way controls on the market, this plate puts both middle-position options, well...in the middle! It's a minor modification but it makes much more sense to me this way. I think you'll like it better, too.
I will include a diagram for easy installation, plus I'm always here to help. But there is one tricky part involved that I want to briefly address. The neck pickup cover ground must be separated from the ground wire, and grounded independently to the back of the volume pot. (the regular ground wire goes to the switch in this harness.) I will include a diagram explaining how to do this (see last photo) OR if you wish, I will do it for you at no charge. Just send me your pickup when you order, and I'll send it back with your plate all set to go.
This harness consists of an Oak-Grigsby switch, Bourns pots, NOS Russian Military PIO capacitor and a Switchcraft jack all wired with Gavitt cloth covered push-back wire and hand-soldered using Thackery silver solder for crisp, clear connections throughout. Top-quality components really DO matter!
