From past customers, I've heard..."If you want an inexpensive way to greatly upgrade the tonal quality and variety of your Tele, this is a no-brainer!"
"Awesome, awesome, awesome!"
"I was WAY impressed..."
"Very well worth it."
Well, what IS it...?
This is a really neat 5-way Bill Lawrence solder-less control plate for any 2-pickup s/s telecaster. I've been making these for myself and friends for years because I really love the two extra tone options it adds to my Telecasters. This is the exact same control plate that goes into Tribute Guitarworks "Memories of '52" model Telecasters. I've decided to offer them for sale here on Reverb. The only thing I've changed is that I make these solder-less, so it's super easy to install them. Simply attach your pickup leads to the handy screw terminals, replace your old jack with my jack and in literally minutes you can turn your run of the mill Telecaster into a glorious feast of tonal variety! The Russian Military PIO capacitor at the heart of this circuit makes a world of improvement over the little 3 cent capacitor that comes stock in today's guitars. You will hear the difference!
Now available for Tele's with a humbucker pickup in the neck. (See other listing.)
Just think how cool it will be to switch effortlessly from a standard Tele twang to a Strat-like in-between "quack" to a mellow jazzy warmth without swapping guitars!
I'll apologize in advance for the long-winded explanation
to follow, but I'm pretty excited about introducing this control plate and I want to make sure everyone understands exactly what this rig does, and why they might want to try one in their Tele. If you already know the basics of the Bill Lawrence mod you can skip ahead.
The five positions are:
(1) neck
(2) neck and bridge
(3) Bridge
(4) HOoP (gives a Strat-like "quack.")
(5) Neck with 10% less highs (Jazzy tone!)
So positions 1-3 are like a regular Tele and 4 and 5 are unique tones you can only get with this type of circuit.
Wiring is all hand-soldered using Gavitt push-back wire and Thackery silver solder. NOS Russian Military paper-in-oil .047 mF Tone capacitor gives you the BEST possible vintage tone in any postition, while a NOS Russian Military .01mF PIO cap rolls off some of the highs in position (5).
I attach one extra ground wire, which you can use to ground the bridge, or metal cavity shield or anything else you need. That comes standard. If you don't need it you can simply clip it off. Most find it useful so unless you specify, I'm putting it on there.
The pots I use are CTS or Bourns and the switch is an Oak Grigsby 5-way.
Whether you are building a new guitar or just giving your old Tele an upgrade, why not put the very best controls in there?! Top-quality components really DO matter!
Shipping will be via Priority Mail.
